Yes, not that particular one but something very similar. Before fitting reception was even worse.

I'm start to wonder if the aerial is in fact connected and I am just picking up a signal on the coax.

Regards.

Oggy.

Hi Oggy, In your first post you said you fitted a "Booster". The adapter that Steve pointed you to is a TOTALLY different beast.

The Aerial on the Galaxy is in the rear side window and has a built in amplifier. This amplifier needs power to operate. The standard radios fitted to the Galaxy feed power up the coax to the amplifier. When you replace the radio with a normal one, the power no longer gets fed to the amplifier so it doesnt work and will actually attenuate the signal that is being recieved.

The adapter Steve poined you at is a "POWER INJECTOR" which feed the aerial amp with power thereby restoring normal listening.

While the experts are here, let me ask a radio related question please ! Do you have any idea why my ice 6000rds is tuning to a different than the chosen freq. for a second or two, and then back to normal? I listen to music, then two seconds of news, then back to music. Is it supposed to be better than this (car is new)or I'm just the lucky one?

I've fitted one of these http://www.bluespot.co.uk/install/show_model.asp?id=87 (PC5-91), and the reception has improved greatly - can pick up MW stations now

Now i've wired it into a permanent live feed, but since had second thoughts - will it drain the battery? or should I wire it to an ignition 12v supply?

If anyone has fitted one that can give me pointers i'd be greatful.

Thanks

Hiya Strouf ..how's you and the family? Yep, you are lucky with regards to your radio. What you have here I reckon is the RDS system PTY or priority selected to News, where the system looks for any channel that is broadcasting news .... a bit like the Traffic Alert where all of a sudden the radio starts to announce traffic alerts while you were listening to your favourite Nana Maskouri song. If you read the manual you can select various PTY's. Hope this helps.

Hello again!

Thank you for your reply. You're probably right. Some time ago, I was playing with the radio settings. AF,PTY, all those mysterious things. Not sure of what I did, but my problem was solved. Now I can listen to my favorite Nana Mouskouri song without annoying TA and news... I still think a Pioneer HU that plays mp3 is money well spent, so I'm soon going to buy one. Having bought the car for almost two years now, I have overcome the "new car-do not touch" syndrome. The ford radio is going to the bin!
